Personal assistants are for everyone,
not just celebrities or the very rich.

Hi, I’m Gretchen.

I’m a for-hire
administrative professional
who helps busy New Yorkers.

What people? What projects?

Here are a selected few from past & present…

College Professor

I help the professor and their spouse. Between them they own a few domestic and international properties and I help handle property tax and utility payments. They also have a few (now adult) children. Over the years, I’ve applied for the kids’ passports (US & international) and postponed jury duty due to college. I pay doctor bills and submit medical claims. I’ve coordinated intracity moves and moves across states and sold furniture after home sales. I’ve also worked with a lovely Red Hook upholsterer they recommended to re-do a wingback chair and make a custom entryway bench cushion.

Network TV Exec

This executive had a few vintage items that needed repair - a beaded clutch, a mirror, and a hurricane lamp. They also needed me to research new shower & tub handles and then hire a person to install them. Before a floor-to-ceiling apartment repaint, I helped pack and prep before the painters came. After the death of a parent, they charged me with a large collage project with family photos and beautiful custom framing by Lee’s Art Shop on 57th (RIP).

Actor/Musican (Me!)

Recently I became a first-time homeowner in a co-op building. So I know how to guide others through that process. Before move-in I hired contractors for minor renovations and I’m saving and researching contractors for a more major bathroom & kitchen remodel. And for the dog owners out there, I’ve loved and lost a senior rescue dog with behavior and mobility issues. So I can help with trainers and behavior experts, and, if need be, a kind and compassionate vet who does end-of-life housecalls.

Great phone manner

I’m very comfortable making & taking phone calls on behalf of my clients.

Problem solving

I have a background in improv that comes in very handy in this work. Every problem has a solution, it just may not look exactly like how we originally envisioned it.

Skills/Abilities I Have

Research

Court records, property records, a new printer to fit a custom space that was made for a much older printer - you name it.

Emotional Intelligence

I’m very good at gauging the mood of others and approaching them accordingly. I also feel strongly about owning my mistakes and learning from them.

Resourcefulness

Multiple times I’ve sold large items that a client was willing to donate just to be rid of it.

Discretion

I often need access to very sensitive information for certain tasks, but will only use it for its intended purpose (eg. social security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, etc.).

Spanish Fluency

The focus of my Spanish minor was on reading and writing, so my conversational skills are woefully underdeveloped. I welcome any chance to flex that muscle!

Skills/Abilities I’m Working On

Bookkeeping

I’d love the opportunity to learn QuickBooks or another bookkeeping software. If you have that need, please get in touch!

NYC Driving Instruction

Driving schools constantly use my quiet neighborhood for driving instruction and I decided I should work for one of them. So I’ve started the process to become a driving instructor.

Let’s figure out how I can help you!

About Me

Like everyone, I’m quite a few things…

  • I’m a wife and a mom to a small child.

  • I’m an actor and musician with some teaching experience.

  • I’m a native Arkansan who’s lived in NYC for over 20 years.

  • I have 16 years of administrative experience - from corporate gigs (mainly finance, but also in the music industry) to personal work for individuals and families.

  • If I had to choose three words to describe myself they’d be good-humored, tenacious, and trustworthy.

Believe it or not, I genuinely like this work. I’ve found it very satisfying to provide practical services for others and learn something new along the way.
